BIBLE STUDY
PHILIPPIANS 3: vs. 15-21 THE JOY OF MATURITY (Part 1)
The Apostle Paul compared the Christian life to a foot race. If you’re exhausted or worried that you can’t keep the pace, don’t head for the sidelines. Today, in Bible study, we will view Biblical guidance to help you stay on track for the long run. We will continue the series, “Count It All Joy” with the lesson, “The Joy of Maturity.”
Today, what does it mean to be mature in Christ? This is a challenge of growing bigger in Christ, becoming stronger in Him, going on to victory and not giving up when we’re halfway home. It is, in many respects, a locker room speech from the Apostle Paul to challenge us not to take the Christian life in any other way, but very seriously, and to maintain our momentum, and to go on, and to keep growing.
Now to do this, there are 3 things that are necessary. First of all, we need encouragement. The Christian life is not a 100-yard dash, it’s a marathon run. Second, we need to have examples. People, who model for us, the kind of race we need to be running, and how to live the Christian life. Finally, we need to have in front of us the goal or expectation from the future to which we can pin our hopes.
Why not join us as we continue to learn and share the value of these lessons we can use in our everyday lives. As your Bible study teacher, I am calling and extending this Bible study invitation to keep your knowledge focused in Scripture. Hopefully, these study lessons help strengthen your ability to kindly, gently, and lovingly minister to others of all faiths and nationalities, knowing all the while that Christ is with you.
When: Sundays at 3:00 p.m.
Where: St. Paul’s Fellowship Hall
