Hebrews 13: vs. 1-6 Four Practical Priorities (Part 1)
Aren’t you glad the Bible isn’t like the “so-called” self-help books full of advice but with no direction to put it all into practice? Today in Bible study, we will see an example of that difference in the Book of Hebrews giving us clear instructions on how we ought to apply its doctrines to our daily lives. We are studying from the series, “The Supremacy and Sufficiency of Christ” with the lesson, “Four Practical Priorities”.
A common pattern in New Testament epistles is for the author to divide the letter into two basic parts: doctrine and application. Most preachers have followed that pattern through the years as well. Here’s the truth and here’s how we should live in light of the truth. The letter to the Hebrews follows that pattern as well: first doctrine, then duty: first belief, then behavior.
Hebrews 13 is a chapter of concluding exhortations from the author to his readers. The subjects he touches are as relevant today as they were nearly 2,000 years ago. They are topics that Christians discuss with great consistency as they talk about the challenges and priorities of the spiritual life. In this less, we look at four priorities in the Christian life: ministry, marriage, money, and mindset.
Why not join us as we continue to learn and share the value of these lessons we can use in our everyday lives. As your Bible study teacher, I am calling and extending this Bible study invitation to keep your knowledge focused in Scripture. Hopefully, these study lessons help strengthen your ability to kindly, gently, and lovingly minister to others of all faiths and nationalities, knowing all the while that Christ is with you.
